Home Blog Looking Back Thanks to YouTube, Experience Paralympics Like Never Before
Millions of people all over the world watched the free live streaming of Summer Olympics 2012 via YouTube this year. The greatest show on earth is over, but sports lovers can rejoice as London Paralympics has started just a few days ago.
Now, since major networks such as NBC decided not to broadcast the live events in USA, US citizens are obviously missing out. Yet, even though sports channels may judge everything on the basis of TRP and ad revenue, thanks to Google, who still celebrates the human spirit, endurance and passion for competition, Paralympics is possible to watch!
On 24th August, YouTube announced that they will broadcast the entire Paralympics for free via the International Paralympics Committee’s channel. The games started on 29th August and will continue till 9th September. So, anyone who wants to catch the last few glimpses of the games, more importantly, the closing ceremony, can tune in to YouTube.
YouTube deprived US users during Summer Olympics, but this time, they are giving extra facilities to North Americans. Besides live coverage, they will be able to hear live commentary as well. The total duration of live coverage is 500 hours and if that does not seem very impressive, then there is an additional 1000 hours of interviews, replays and behind-the-scenes videos for you to explore.
